DIED AND GONE TO CROSS STREET

31 Cross Street, Dundas, ON, circa 1856

Cross Street is my favourite street in Dundas, if not all of greater Hamilton. It is literally a gateway to (heritage home) heaven with historic marvels from foot to finish, culminating with the landmark Dundas Driving Park

This Second Empire meets Neoclassical residence is about half way up the street and is a sight to be held. Unfortunately it has recently been SOLD! But that doesn't mean you can't drool and dream over the pictures below (photo credits: Tom Vogel).

FRESH FACTS
  • Interestingly, this home was first listed for $1,875,000 but SOLD what seems immediately after, if not before, a price reduction at $1,500,000 was promoted in the newspaper
  • Known as 'Eastridge' -owned by only 3 families in its 160+ year history
  • The current mansard roof (French influence) was added later to replace a more traditional version
  • The dormers are Neoclassical in style instead of rounded

  • The iron cresting over the doorway may once have been a balcony
